Easter In Amesterdam - We arrived in Amsterdam Easter morning to begin a 7 night cruise on the Amadeus Waterways m/s Amadagio from Amsterdam to Trier in Germany on the Rhine, Main and Mosel rivers. Interestingly enough we arrived in Amsterdam on the coldest Easter in over 40 years! On Easter Day we saw sun, rain, snow, fog, and more sun all within about an hour and this cycle continued all day along.
This will be our first river cruise and despite the weather we're looking forward to the trip. Although this is actually the third cruise this season for the Amadagio this season, we might suggest that its a bit early in the season for this trip.
If you're new to river cruising as we are, but accustomed to ocean cruising, you'll notice a big difference right as you approach your ship. River ships are, obviously, very small compared to an ocean cruise ship. Our last trip to Europe on a cruise was onboard the Royal Caribbean Voyager of the Seas at 138,000 tons and over 3,000 passengers. The Amadeus Waterways Amadagio carries just 150 passengers and on this particular trip she has just 130 people on board. Think intimate!
